62 Prayer Points for ThanksGiving + Scriptures!

Please share with others!

I love Psalms 100 because it encourages us to enter into God’s presence with a thankful heart while declaring praises! This scripture reminds me that God finds it beautiful when we are grateful, appreciative, thankful, and satisfied by His work in our lives.

"Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations." Psalm 100:1-5

There is so much to be thankful for in life. God withholds no good thing from us. But, unfortunately we don’t always remember that. We often forget how good our Heavenly Father is when things get tough and we are in pain. And forgetting God’s goodness has very real consequences.

In the story of Moses, God delivered the Israelites from the abuse of the Egyptian Pharaoh. After the exodus, so many people were in awe of God’s power, even some Egyptians joined the Israelites on the journey through the desert in search of the promise land. While on this journey, they encountered different problems which caused them to grow impatient, ungrateful, and distrustful of God’s ability to help them. Then they turned to false idols, jealousy, greed, and disobedience because they were not able to remain thankful and trust in God during difficult moments.

What does the Bible say about thankfulness?

The Bible says that we should make it a constant effort to remember God, His goodness, and His miraculous works. King Solomon was the wisest man on Earth, and He knew that continually praising and thanking God was the key to a successful life.

"Three times a year Solomon used to offer up burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar that he built to the Lord, making offerings with it before the Lord." 1 Kings 9:25

Are you going through a season where you feel you’re in a blazing hot desert (like the Israelites) and the promise land is far away? Is everything going wrong? Or maybe you’re in a good season and you’re reaping the promises of God in your life. It doesn’t matter. Making it a habit to thank God trains your brain to think positively and trust God in the highs and lows of life.

Short Prayer of Praise

Lord God Almighty, you are consistent, constant, and unwavering. Your promises remain the same today and forever more. I thank you that you don't change your mind and the promises in the Bible are my portion. I am confident you are my shepherd that will help me find rest, peace, and refreshment to my soul. I am overjoyed that I do not have to fear evil or any plans of the enemy for You are with me; and Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Thank you that You anoint my head with oil; and my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Amen.

How do I make thanksgiving to God?

In Psalm 100:1-5, the scripture says that thankfulness should be shown as we enter into God’s presence. So, I like to start all my prayers to God by thanking him, because I take this verse very serious while praying. There has been times when I didn’t want to pray and I didn’t believe God’s promises, but when I started to thank him for the things he has already done in my life… my whole attitude shifted.

Honestly, there is so much darkness we can focus on, but that will cause us to entertain darkness, fear, worry, anxiety, and pain. And there are a lot of things I’m waiting on which can cause me to think God doesn’t bless me. For instance, I’ve been single and celibate for 11 years. And I haven’t seen some of my prayers for the transformation and healing of others happen. And the list goes on. But, I don’t choose to focus on that. When I choose to look at what God has done, how he has blessed me, and what is going right…. my mindset and things around me shifts.

  • I’m most thankful for his peace
  • A family I can turn to
  • A job, finances, purpose
  • Emotional and physical health
  • The ability to see, walk, talk
  • Dreams that help me avoid dangerous situations
  • God giving me the idea for this website
  • Guidance and forgiveness of my own sin

What are you thankful for? You may not have all you want, but be grateful for what you do have. Recounting all the things he has done makes me realize, that God is REAL!!!! The truth is, an attitude of thankfulness reminds us that we are children to a powerful God that wishes to protect us, provide for us, guide us, and heal us. And he withholds no GOOD THING and gives us everything we need to live a holy and set apart life.
