The seasons in our lives are changing, just like the weather.
I woke up today — and yesterday — to unusually low temperatures for South Florida: 73 and 71 degrees. If you know this area, you know we hardly see seasonal change. Even in our “cold winters,” it’s still sunny — unlike other states where leaves fall, plants die, or snow covers the ground.
And yet, here I am… freezing. But everything outside looks the same — the sun, the trees, the sky. The only difference is a cooler wind. And despite what I see, boom — winter has quietly arrived.
As I sat in that moment, I started reflecting. God whispered something simple but powerful: “Your seasons don’t always change dramatically. Sometimes they shift gently.” Change isn’t always loud or obvious. Sometimes it’s subtle — a quiet new hope, a fresh strength, a clearer vision, a feeling, a deeper revelation. It’s just something… different. And we have to learn to notice it, even when it doesn’t look like what we expected.
How Elijah’s Season Changed
Elijah had just faced a harsh season. After boldly standing for God, he ran for his life, terrified, exhausted, and feeling completely alone — even telling God he wanted to die (1 Kings 19:4). Everything around him seemed hopeless. But God met him gently, providing food, rest, and speaking in a quiet whisper, reminding him that His presence was still there and his mission was not over (1 Kings 19:11–12).
God also reminded Elijah he wasn’t alone. There were still 7,000 in Israel who had remained faithful, and He had already chosen Elisha to continue the work Elijah had begun (1 Kings 19:13-18). This quiet encouragement renewed Elijah’s hope and marked the beginning of a new season for him — one with rest, renewed strength, and a clear path forward.
Similarly, God may be quietly shifting your season.

God is a Way Maker
If there’s a place in your life — or someone you love — where it feels like there’s no way forward, think about this: Jehoshaphat’s army was surrounded. They were outnumbered, trapped, and under siege. It looked hopeless. But God didn’t just make a small change — He completely removed the enemy. The army that blocked the way was destroyed without the people of God having to fight a single battle. And while they waited, the people praised, sang, and trusted God (2 Chronicles 20).
That’s the same God we serve. He can shift your season in ways you don’t see coming. He can remove obstacles, fears, and situations standing in your way, making a way for breakthrough exactly when it’s needed.
6 Signs Your Season Is Changing
1. You’re finally owning the lessons.
You’ve stopped just knowing the lesson — now you’re living it. The things you used to wrestle with don’t pull the same reaction out of you anymore. You’ve practiced what you’ve learned long enough that it’s becoming second nature. That’s what maturity in God looks like — when His word isn’t just something you read, it’s something you embody. You’ve trained your spirit through constant practice, learning to discern what’s right and what’s not (Hebrews 5:14). Growth isn’t instant — it’s formed in the quiet, consistent choosing of what pleases God.
2. You’re not limited to what you see.
You’ve reached a place where you don’t need proof anymore to believe what God said. You used to need signs or reassurance, but now there’s a quiet trust that says, “Even if I don’t see it yet, I know it’s already working out for my good.” That’s what walking by faith really is — believing beyond what’s visible (2 Corinthians 5:7). You’ve learned to look past what’s in front of you because your hope isn’t anchored in circumstances; it’s anchored in God’s promises.
3. You’re honoring your emotions, but you’re not ruled by them.
You’ve learned how to sit with your emotions without letting them lead you. You can feel sadness, disappointment, frustration, or fear — and still choose to respond wisely. You’ve realized there’s a time to be still and a time to move, and both can be powerful and purposeful. Sometimes, honoring God means not staying stuck in what hurt you. Jesus Himself felt every human emotion — anger, sorrow, exhaustion, grief — yet He never sinned or let those feelings control Him (Hebrews 4:15). You can feel deeply but still respond rightly, because you’ve learned to “be still and know” that He is God — not your fear, not your feelings (Psalm 46:10).
4. You’ve released the heavy weights.
You’ve stopped trying to carry what God never asked you to hold. You’ve stopped replaying the story, stopped forcing connections, stopped doing emotional heavy-lifting for everyone else. Now, you’re choosing peace over performance. You’ve learned that surrender isn’t weakness — it’s worship. Like Scripture says, you’re laying aside every weight that slows you down so you can run with endurance (Hebrews 12:1). The release is what makes you lighter — that’s how God makes room for what’s next.

5. You’re not depending on others’ opinions.
You’ve made peace with not being understood by everyone, and that used to feel lonely. But now you see it differently — you realize that when you quiet other voices, it’s easier to hear God’s. You’re rooted in what He says about you, not what others think of you. Like Paul said, you’re no longer seeking the approval of people, but of God (Galatians 1:10). Your confidence doesn’t come from agreement anymore — it comes from alignment.
6. You’ve stared your biggest fears in the eye.
You’ve faced what used to make you freeze — the rejection, the uncertainty, the waiting — and you’ve survived. Now you know that fear doesn’t mean you’re weak, it just means you’re human. But even in the trembling, you’ve learned to trust that God is with you. Like He told Joshua, “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or discouraged, for I am with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). You’ve stopped letting fear narrate your story — now, faith has the final word.

Conclusion: Standing Firm in Your Season
As you reflect on all these signs, remember: God is not like man. He does not lie, and His promises are always true. What He declares will happen; what He says is steadfast, even when life around you looks different (Numbers 23:19).
We serve a good Father, not a distant or unloving one. He is not a punishing dictator demanding obedience out of fear. He is the loving God who guides, protects, and provides, shaping our seasons for our growth and our joy (Psalm 103:13–14). His Word is trustworthy (Isaiah 55:11), His timing is perfect (Ecclesiastes 3:1), and His plans are for our good (Jeremiah 29:11).
So, as your season shifts — whether quietly or boldly — stand firm. Trust the changes within your spirit. Believe the promises He has spoken over your life. Rest in the truth that He is with you in every step, every pause, every breakthrough. And know that your God is not just watching from afar — He is walking with you, holding you, and celebrating even the small victories along the way (Hebrews 13:5). Your season is changing, and it is holy. Be confident in that truth, because your Father is good, and He is faithful.
